Hi, I am Vanessa Mulholland
I have been working with textiles and fabrics for 30 years. I studied Textiles for Fashion at the London College of Fashion and trained in costume design for film and TV at the BBC. However, it was only when I discovered interiors that I found my true calling and that's when curtains and I found each other.
After being referred to friends of friends seeking help with getting curtains made for their homes, I moved into the industry, working for large, high-end curtain-making companies. There, I was trained in the quality and standards required to fulfil complete curtain orders for the top end of the market.
Wanting to be even more involved with curtains, I branched out on my own so that I could provide hands-on guidance throughout the entire curtain supply process, adding extra value to my customers. If you need an experienced hand, I can help you manage your complete curtain project—from conception, measuring, consulting, and ordering, right through to making and installation. Or if you just fancy chatting about fabrics and curtains, give me a call. It's my favorite topic.
All part of the service
Measuring and consulting
We offer a measuring service. This is a check measure which will be arranged after a quote, if necessary based on approximate measurements provide has been accepted.
Quoting
This is a complete summary of the curtains, blinds and soft furnishing project. It includes the costs of making and materials including selected fabrics and hardware such as poles and headrails as well as other professional services required such as fitting. Items are grouped by room which helps to keep a track of items and is usually broken down this way for costing. The total amount required is included as well as the required deposit and a VAT breakdown.
Ordering and project managing
Once the project is on the go we will manage all aspects. This will include ordering the fabric unless otherwise requested, managing the specification hardware such as poles, tracks and headrails, liaising with contractors and receiving and storing delivered goods. Many aspects of a curtain project are complicated and very specific and require detailed forethought based on technical expertise and experience. This is offered as part of the service.
Making
The actual making of the soft furnishing products will be added to the workroom schedule. Depending on availability of materials. 6-8 weeks is the usual scheduled turn-around for a project.
For workroom services only, the turn around is up to 4 weeks from initial order with a minimum of 2 weeks after arrival of fabric and a full and complete worksheet
Installation
House of Mulholland works closely with experienced curtain fitters who work with care and consideration to provide the best outcome for your finished project. This is the final stage of the process of the curtain supply and very often of your whole project. This is where we hope you feel delighted to settle in and appreciate the fabulous results of all that went before.
